Purpose:

The Corban Student Government Association exists to foster a community that encourages student involvement, validates individual voices, and promotes servanthood.

The President of SGA identifies and addresses the current needs of the Corban Student Body.

NOTE: All applicants will run for the singular position of president.  The winner is awarded the presidency and the position of Executive Vice President falls to the next runner up.

 

General Qualifications:

The President / Executive Vice President must be a member of the Corban community who…

  1. Demonstrates an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Has a passion for the mission of Corban.
  3. Has a desire to represent the students of Corban.
  4. Exhibits peer leadership abilities and displays collaborative leadership strengths.Practices effective organizational skills.
  5. Is familiar with Corban’s Student Walkthrough and policies.
  6. Represents the University with maturity and professionalism.

 

Academic Qualifications:

Any Presidential Candidate must be registered as a current Corban undergraduate student who…

  1. Possesses a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  2. Is on track with REACH requirements.Registers for a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 18 credits.

 

Responsibilities:

The President and Executive Vice President of SGA are both expected to:

  1. Abide by all Corban community lifestyle standards.
  2. Attend weekly Cabinet meetings with their cabinet.
  3. Attend chapel.
  4. Hold regular office hours (5 per week)
  5. Be present as a school representative at various events.
  6. Support and work effectively with other campus offices.
  7. Perform other duties as required.

 

Training:

The President and his/her Cabinet are required to attend all training sessions as outlined in the SGA Leadership Training Timeline.

 

Stipend:

The Present and Executive Vice President of the Student Government Association will receive a scholarship equal to 16% of the cost of tuition for the first year in office.  Scholarships are disbursed through the Financial Aid Office at the beginning of each semester.


SGA President Information


Purpose:

The SGA President is the direct liaison between the Corban Student Body and the Administration of Corban. This individual is responsible for representing said student body. The President is responsible for leading and maintaining the Cabinet of SGA and representing the Cabinet to the rest of SGA, the Corban student body, and the Administration of Corban.

  1. Has strong leadership skills.
  2. Is well organized and able to handle many programs at once.
  3. Possesses strong communication skills and conflict management skills.
  4. Is assertive, but also able to represent opinions other than their own.
  5. Is able to work with a wide range of people.

  1. Serve as the liaison between the student body and the administration, faculty, and staff.
  2. Publicly speak on behalf of SGA and the Corban Student Body.
  3. Preside over weekly Cabinet meetings.

  5. Represent students at Student Life meetings and committees.

SGA Executive Vice President Information


Purpose:

The Executive Vice President is the presiding officer of the student senate. This individual is responsible for working closely with the SGA President in guiding the direction and dynamic of the SGA. This individual is also expected to assume the duties of the President per the President’s request. The Executive VP is responsible for leading and maintaining the student Senate and representing the Senate to the SGA Cabinet and the administration.
